Some more interstate travel brought Beau and I to Iowa. Our first stop was in Davenport, primarily to see the Mississippi River. Checked that off the list. Our second was in Des Moines. Honestly, I was pretty indifferent about this city. I guess it was because there was a lot of gray. Either way, it was nice out so we walked around for a bit, saw a Chinese-dedicated park & the Iowa State Capitol Building, and stopped at Ritual Cafe, a little vegetarian joint, for dinner. There was some festival going on with music on the river which was cool, but this also meant that a lot of hotels were booked. So, we ended up in a Marriot…Zero complaints to be made.
I learned several things in & about Iowa:
Stereotypes may often be accurate as far as landscape goes.
They take pride in claiming the World’s Largest Truckstop.
Buffet breakfasts will forever excite me.
