Not so home for the holidays, but lucky to say the least. This was my first Christmas away from my family. While I missed them incredibly, my friend and her family took myself and two other year long study abroaders into their rented apartment in Madrid for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Her parents went above and beyond, giving each of us socks filled with small goodies. I may not have been in the comfort of my own home, although FaceTime gave me a similar sensation, I was able to enjoy the holiday more than I could have imagined.

I liked Madrid, but I’m not sure it’s a city that I’ll want to visit again (well, aside from meeting my parents there in a few weeks!). Toledo, on the other hand, was incredible. My host mom recommended I check it out as it’s only a quick, cheap bus ride from bustling Madrid. My friend and I walked the streets for a couple of hours in awe of the antiquity and preciousness of every narrow street and stone building. While a day trip was plenty, I would have liked to stay the night to see the streets lit by the Christmas decor. Toledo has undoubtedly made the list of my favorite cities.DSC_0040 DSC_0007DSC_0027 DSC_0057 IMG_5404 IMG_5442 IMG_5462IMG_5511 IMG_5497 IMG_5452 IMG_5476 Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset IMG_5525 IMG_5534 IMG_5573Lovely Toledo…
